What is FC2 WiFi?

FC2 WiFi is a service that provides WiFi (Wireless LAN) for free.
By signing up to FC2 WiFi you can enjoy free wireless internet and communicate with other people using the same Access Point through our miniSNS feature.

Connecting to FC2 WiFi

*Please do the settings within the reach of FC2 WiFi Access Point.

  • On your device's wireless network settings page there should be a network named "FC2WiFi" which you can select.
    Open a browser and go to any page, then the login page for FC2ID will display.
    Simply enter your email address and password associated with your FC2ID, you can connect to FC2WiFi and use the internet.

* If you don't have an FC2ID,

  1. Enter your email address or cellphone number (without hyphens) into the box that says "Select Sign Up Method" in the middle of the login screen, and click on "Sign Up for Free Wifi".
  2. A reply message will be sent to you email address or your phone's SMS, This message will include a 6 character code which you can then enter into the previous login page.
    If you have closed the page, you can simply reopen the login page and click on "Enter Confirmation Code", from where you can enter in your email address or cellphone number, and the confirmation code you received.
  3. Please enter the password you want to use to login to your FC2ID into the "Password for logging into your FC2ID" field.
    Please make sure the password in 6 to 16 characters and contains lower case letters, upper case letters and numbers.
  4. After entering your password, an FC2ID will be assigned to you and you will be able to begin using FC2 WiFi.
    The next page will display your FC2ID and password. Please confirm they are correct.
    If you signed up via email, the FC2ID will have that email address assigned to it. If you registered via cellphone your email will be set as "(international phone number)@sms.fc2.com" temporarily.
    Please change this temporarily assigned email address to your normal address as soon as possible.

*"International Phone Number" means the number your phone would show up as if you called overseas.

Windows 7 Connection Process

  1. Click the Network Icon in system tray.
  2. The network selection screen will open. Select the SSID named "FC2 Wifi(Free)", and click the "Connect" button.
  3. Confirm that the connection is complete.
  4. Open your browser.
  5. The FC2 WiFi portal page will display. Enter your FC2ID information into the login form from the top-left corner.
    *If the portal page does not display, please open a browser and go to any page and then it will display.

Mac OS X Connection Process

  1. Enable "Wi-Fi".
  2. Networks that can be connected to will display. Select the SSID named "FC2 Wifi(Free)".
  3. Open your browser.
  4. The FC2 WiFi portal page will display. Enter your FC2ID information into the login form from the top-left corner.
    *If the portal page does not display, please open a browser and go to any page and then it will display.

iPhone, iPod touch Connection Process

  1. Tap the "Settings" button.
  2. Tap the "Wi-Fi" button.
  3. Enable "Wi-Fi" (Turn ON).
  4. When you enable "Wi-Fi", begin detecting wireless networks.
  5. Networks that can be connected to will display. Select the SSID named "FC2 Wifi(Free)".
  6. Your browser will automatically start-up and display the FC2WiFi Portal Page. Click [Go to the Login Page] and enter your FC2ID information into the login form.
    *If the portal page does not display, please open a browser and go to any page and then it will display.

iPad Connection Process

  1. Tap the "Settings" button.
  2. Tap the "Wi-Fi" button.
  3. Enable "Wi-Fi" (Turn ON).
  4. When you enable "Wi-Fi", begin detecting wireless networks.
  5. Networks that can be connected to will display. Select the SSID named "FC2 Wifi(Free)".
  6. Return to the home screen and open your browser.
  7. The FC2 WiFi portal page will display. Enter your FC2ID information into the login form from the top-left corner.
    *If the portal page does not display, please open a browser and go to any page and then it will display.

Nintendo 3DS Connection Process

  1. Open the settings page.
  2. Tap "Internet Settings".
  3. Tap "Connection Settings".
  4. Tap "New Connection".
  5. Select "Manual Setup".
  6. Tap "Search for an Access Point".
  7. Tap "FC2 Wifi (Free)".
  8. Tap "OK".
  9. A connection test will start and tap "Next " even though the test may fail.
  10. You may receive an error message but tap "OK".
  11. Tap "Quit".
  12. Open a browser.
  13. The FC2 WiFi portal page will display. Enter your FC2ID information into the login form from the top-left corner.
    *If the portal page does not display, please open a browser and go to any page and then it will display.

※Once these settings have been saved, you will not be required to re-enter them the next time you connect.

About the miniSNS

About the miniSNS

Only Users who are connected to an FC2 WiFi Access Point are able to use the miniSNS function.
Through this miniSNS Users can send messages and communicate with each other.

Using the miniSNS

In order to use the FC2WiFi miniSNS service, Users will need to use the FC2 WiFi network named "FC2 Wifi(Free)". General Users should use the SSID "FC2 Wifi(Free)".
Once you connect to the "FC2 Wifi(Free)" network and open your browser, the FC2WiFi service portal page will display.
If you have an FC2ID, use the login form in the top-left corner and you will be sent to the miniSNS top page.
If you do not have an FC2ID, enter your email address into the portal page in the center of the screen and click the "Connect to Free Wifi" button. You will receive an email from FC2. Use that information to login.

miniSNS Home Page

Say Something

You can enter a message up to 140 characters.
Any URLs you enter will automatically become links.

Commenting

You can comment on what other people around you have said.
Click the "Comment" button to to open the "Comment Page".

Removing what you said.

By clicking the "(Trash Can) Delete" button next to what you wrote, it will be deleted.
Please note that all comments attached to what you have written will also be deleted.

Sending Messages

By clicking the "(Envelope) Message" button next to what another User wrote, a message will be sent to that User.

My Timeline

Your previous comments or something what you said can be seen here.
The list order can be changed.
You can also enter a message to each of those comments.

Messages

You are able to create new messages and reply to them.
In your message list, the messages with other past users is displayed.
By clicking a user's name, you can view the message details.
Unread messages will have an "Unread" icon next to it.

Friends

When you become friends with another User, you can do the following things.
1. You can view your friend's profile by clickin on their Username or image.
2. You can see the Access Points that your friend has connected to.
3. You can unfriend the User.
4. You can send messages to the User.

Others

- Profile
You can customize your own profile.
You will need to setup a profile to use the miniSNS service.
Name (Given/Surname) and a Self-description.
There are two methods to set your profile image.
- Select an image from your computer using the "Browse" button.
- Directly using a Webcam to upload a picture.

- Access Point History
1. Currently Connected Access Point
 Check the Access Point you are currently connected to.
 By clicking the owner name you can view the owner's profile.
2. Access Point History
 Displays all Access Points you have connected to in the past.
 Click the "Remove History" button to remove that Access Point from your history list.
 Click "Details" to view the Access Point details.
